Simmental auction raises €4,000 for charity

AN AUCTION of semen and embryos raised €4,000 for charity when the selection went under the hammer of auctioneer, Denis Barrett, at the Irish Simmental Cattle Society Premier Show and Sale at Roscommon on Saturday.

A flask of selected semen, donated by noted Cork Simmental breeder John Stone, fetched the top price of €2,600. The proceeds will go to the Kolbe Special School in Portlaoise.
