Solid Roscommon grazing land for €5,000 per acre

MULLINGAR auctioneer Padraic Murtagh is crossing the Shannon into Roscommon to handle the sale of a 80ac farm in a variety of lots.

Scattered between Frenchpark and Lanesboro on the Longford border the farm is guided at €400,000 or around €5,000/ac.

The first parcel is an 18ac plot of ground located at Cloonshanv­ille 4km from Frenchpark and 13km from Ballaghade­reen on the N5. It comes with a derelict cottage and cattle handling facilities and is described as dry elevated land. It is guided at €5,000 to €6,000/ac.

A 7.5ac parcel at Raheela, Frenchpark will be sold in two lots of 5ac and 2.5ac with the former guided at €5,000/ac and the latter at €8,000/ac. The land is laid out in neat regular divisions.

At Cooltiege, Kilrooskey off the N63 Lanesboro, a 9ac parcel with frontage on to two roads is surrounded by good farming land and according to Mr Murtagh, with attention it could be brought up to that standard.

A 4.5ac plot at Killattmor­iarty near Doohill and 5km from Lanesboro comes with 90m of road frontage. The good quality land is laid out in neat divisions.

This has a guide price of €5,000/ac.

The largest parcel is a 25.5ac farm at Donamon located 4km from Crosswell and 10km from Roscommon. It is described as ideal for forestry and guided at €4,000/ac.

A 7.5ac parcel located off the N5 nearer Ballaghade­rreen and 9km from Frenchpark has 120m of road frontage and a natural water supply and is guided at €4,000 to €5,000/ac. A 6ac parcel at Curraghroe, 6km from Lanesboro, is priced at €5,000 to €6,000/ac.

The farm will be sold at auction at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on this Friday, April 20 at 3pm.
