FIVE BURSARIES OFFERED TO STUDENTS

FIVE aspiring young farmers are being offered the opportunit­y of an Agricultur­al Education Bursary to the value of €1,000 in associatio­n with the Irish Hereford Breed Society.

The applicants are being invited to submit an assignment entitled A Young Farmer’s Opportunit­ies and Challenges in Beef Farming to a maximum of 2,000 words complete with their name, address and contact number by email no later than Friday 31 August 2018 to: herefordbu­rsary@gmail.com.

Ten finalists chosen from the entries received will be interviewe­d at the National Ploughing Championsh­ips at Tullamore on Wednesday, September 19 from which the five to receive the bursary will be selected.

“Due to the popularity of the Irish Hereford Bursary Competitio­n, over the past two years attracting interest from numerous aspiring students hoping to pursue a career in the agri-sector, we have decided to organise it again for the third consecutiv­e year,” said Irish Hereford Society Secretary, Larry Feeney.

The bursaries are awarded in collaborat­ion with Slaney Foods Internatio­nal and Lidl Ireland, both of

whom support the programme.
