Music with Eddie Rowley

- ROCKIN’ ROWLEY

FRANCES BLACK and Kieran Goss have always had an indefinable magic as a duo.

Although both have enjoyed successful solo careers at home and abroad, together they have given fans many unforgettable nights of live music, song and hilarious banter.

Kieran and Frances have a professional relationship going back nearly 30 years, and their career as a duo happened by chance.

“Frances was offered a gig in Maghera and she phoned me saying, ‘I don’t really do solo shows and I don’t have anyone to accompany me, so do you want to do it for the craic?’ ”

The rest, as they say, is history as word spread like wildfire about the couple’s hugely entertaining and engaging show, and they became inundated with requests and offers for more performances.

Last year, Black and Goss went back on the road after an extended break. “It had been a long time since we worked together and we were both nervous,” Kieran says. “But from the very first song of the show we knew we had made the right decision. The audience sang every song with us; it was like a meeting up of old friends, and Frances and I loved every minute of it.”

Their tour sold out venues all around Ireland, much to the relief of the illustrious pair. “Now we’re delighted to be giv- en this opportunity of playing more shows together,” Kieran acknowledges. “We may even turn it into an annual event.”

Audiences on this upcoming tour can look forward to a repertoire that includes everything from ‘Wall Of Tears’ and ‘After The Ball’ to ‘My Love Is In America’, ‘Reasons To Leave (Heaven On Earth)’ and ‘Heard It All Before’.

The Frances Black & Kieran Goss Reunion Tour starts on Saturday, December 21, at The Venue Theatre, Ratoath, Co Meath.
