Monamores up for global gong
THE Monamore herd of Tom Kelly and his son James, at Philipstown Farm, Drogheda is the only Irish herd in the 100 herds worldwide which have been nominated in the search to find the world’s most influential breeders of the last 25 years.
The Monamore herd received a Diamond award for Monamore Bwm Ellymae ET and a Gold award for Monamore Bwm Ellymae ET.
The contest is being organised by Holstein International magazine to identify the herds which, in the opinion of their readers, have made the greatest contribution in shaping the Holstein cow globally over the last quarter of a century.
Voting for the nominated herds, which is open to all readers of Holstein International, will close on Thursday.
The Monamore herd has been noted for the prizewinners and price-leaders bred over the decades, a number of which have been purchased by AI centres.
