Roscrea

There was a turnout of 550, with various selections of 56kg lambs/hoggets averaging €170/hd, while 54kgs topped out at €169/hd.

On the factory side the top call was the €155/hd paid to a batch of 49kgs, with 47kgs selling for €149-152/hd and 46kgs making up to €146/hd.

On the store side 37kgs made up to €117/hd, with 30kgs peaking at €80/hd; in between 39kgs made €112/hd.

93kg cull ewes sold to €180/ hd, with 98kgs making €171/ hd and 81kgs at €151-154/hd.

Baltinglass

Saturday’s sale had improved trade all round, with good-quality stores in strong demand.

The standout sales included 38-42kg lambs/hoggets at €117-134/hd, with 25-30kgs at €90-107/hd, while 39kg Cheviot ewe lambs sold for €130/hd.

Other prices included eleven 47kg hoggets at €140/hd, and seventeen 39kg lambs/ hoggets at €130/hd.

There was a good trade for cast ewes at €70-135/hd.

Roscommon

There was a good entry, with heavy hoggets peaking at €167/hd for 56kgs. Other prices of note included €164/hd for 54kgs, €158/hd for 52kgs and 47.8kgs topping out at €155/hd.

On the store side various lots averaging 40.5kgs sold from €126-128/hd, with 38.4kgs making €125/hd, although 36.5kgs slipped to €104/hd.

Cast ewes made €60-169/ hd while better breeding ewes sold to a top of €200/hd.

Dowra

The entry here was just over 1,600 on Saturday, with the top call among the heavy hoggets seeing 58kgs selling to €165/ hd followed by 49-50kgs topping out at €161/hd.

On the store side seventeen forward 41.5kg hoggets averaged €135/hd with thirty at 41kgs making €134.50/hd.

Among the lighter stores twenty at 34kg made €113/hd, with six at 33kgs averaging €119/hd.

Five ewes carrying eleven lambs averaged €225/hd.
