SOAP OF THE WEEK
ing if boss Carla found out. Instead, she’s going to rope in Sinéad’s ex-fiance, Chesney, to help her save the day. Let’s face it, Chesney does have some form of healing powers — sure wasn’t Sinéad walking only a matter of months after a break in her back left her paralysed? Sadly, Beth is not seeking Chesney’s bedside manner. Her grand plan involves Chesney pilfering the takings from his place of work to fund Sinéad’s treatment. How would he do this? By making out he was mugged. Who would “mug” him? Kirk, of course.
Indeed, it is no longer a foolproof plan. Chesney is torn, until he spots a distraught Sinéad having received the news that Steff has died. He tells Beth he’s in and she starts convincing Kirk that he has to mug Chesney. Collecting the shop takings from Dev, Chesney ambles out on the street, enabling Kirk to snatch the bag from him. Dev gives chase as Kirk sprints away. Huzzah, they’ve done it!
Alas, no. Cash in hand, Sinéad puts two and two together when she clocks the balaclava Kirk nonchalantly discards, and she tries giving the money back to Dev, who, understandably, smells a rat. Will Chesney confess? More pertinently, will anyone get to save Sinead?
