Don't miss Bairbre's column 'Midlife' every Thursday in the

As annual festive parties go, the Marker Hotel’s family Sunday is always a big favourite with all ages. The ballroom turns into a forest of fragrant Christmas trees, parents tuck into the gorgeous food and the kids get to meet Santa and Mrs Claus. (1) Charlie Sheil, the busy General Manager of the sleek docklands hotel, donned a cool Santa jumper and minutes after he was photographed with designer Sonya Lennon, I spotted him outside, armed with a sweeping brush after a deluge of rain.

The great and good of Ireland’s tourism, travel and culinary industry came along to The Merrion Hotel for the annual Blue Book announcements in which six new properties were unveiled, including Ballyfin Demesne in Co Laois which is definitely on my bucket list for 2019. Bollinger Special Cuvée was served and among the guests were Hazel Allen from Ballymaloe, Paul Flynn of The Tannery in Dungarvan and (2) Catherine Dundon of Dunbrody Country House Hotel pictured with Marty Whelan who was MC for the evening.

Super Dub, Carla Rowe, stayed in blue, albeit navy, for the glamorous TG4 Ladies Football All Star banquet in association with Lidl held at the Citywest hotel. (3) Carla was photographed with Dáithí Ó Sé, the MC, and Marie Hickey, President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.

Windsor Airside Renault celebrated its official launch with a lively sports panel hosted by Marty Morrissey, with their motoring ambassadors. Guests included (4) Leinster rugby ace James Lowe and his girlfriend, Arnica Palmer.

The undisputed queen of eyebrows, Kim O’Sullivan, has just opened The Brow Lab at the Brown Thomas Beauty Lounge on Chatham Street with a new exclusive treatment called ‘The Tailored Brow’.
