Another stabbing victim dies in city
GARDAI have launched a second murder investigation after a man who was seriously injured in a stabbing incident lost his three- day fight for life.
David Hamilton ( 30) was stabbed at a house on the northside of Cork city on Friday and died at Cork University Hospital ( CUH) yesterday evening.
The incident was one of three stabbings in the city over the weekend.
The incident occurred during a row at a house at Kerryhall Road, Fairhill, around 2.30pm on May 4.
The young man, who is believed to be from Wexford and who had been living in the Ballincollig area of Cork, made his way out onto the road where he was found unconscious by a female passer- by.
Gardai at Gurranabraher are treating his death as murder.
A man is before the courts charged in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, a man is due in court this morning following the death of a party- goer outside an apartment in the early hours of Sunday morning in a separate incident.
Mark Hanlon ( 31) from Lotamore, Mayfield, a father of one, was stabbed at Infirmary Road on the south side of Cork city after a row escalated.
There were between 10 and 12 people in the flat at the time.
Gardai arrested a man and a woman close to the scene.
The man will appear before Cork District Court this morning in connection with the stabbing. The woman was released without charge yesterday and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions ( DPP).
Separately, a 35- year- old man suffered multiple stab wounds in a third incident in Cork city yesterday morning.
The man was found lying injured on the street at Parkview, Wellington Road, on the northside of the city at 6.25am by a passer- by, who contacted the emergency services.
His injuries are not believed to be life- threatening.
