-

ARSENAL’S Jack Wilshere has been fined £40,000 and severely warned as to his future conduct after admitting to a charge of misconduct, the FA announced yesterday.

Wilshere, who came through the Gunners’ youth ranks, led the massed ranks of Arsenal supporters in a chant which included expletives against Spurs, who again finished below their north London neighbours in the Premier League table.

The 23-year- old was subsequently reminded about his responsibilities by the club and also then issued an apology via Twitter for any offence caused.

THE threat of Russia and Qatar being stripped of the next two World Cups intensified last night after the man leading Switzerland’s criminal inquiry into their award declared he would have no qualms bringing about their removal.

Swiss attorney general Michael Lauber also indicated yesterday that he had widened the scope of his investigation to include the allocation of previous tournaments and refused to rule out Sepp Blatter being dragged into his probe.

Among the documents obtained by Lauber’s team are those relating to money paid for a friendly between Brazil and Argentina in a friendly in Qatar three weeks before it was awarded the 2022 World Cup.

LEICESTER have sacked Tom Hopper, Adam Smith and James Pearson for their part in a sexually explicit video during which racist language was used.

Pearson, son of Foxes boss Nigel, and his two team-mates appeared together in a leaked video from the club’s end- of-season ‘goodwill tour’ of Thailand, during which a variety of crude remarks are made including one of two Thai women being called a “slit- eye”.

After an internal investigation Leicester, whose owners Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha are from Thailand, have terminated the trio’s contracts.

ASTON VILLA have completed the signing of Micah Richards on a four-year deal.

The 26-year- old defender will officially join the club on a free transfer on July 1 after his Manchester City contract expires.

Richards spent last season on loan at Fiorentina and becomes boss Tim Sherwood’s first summer signing at Villa.

CHILE midfielder Arturo Vidal was arrested on drink-driving charges after crashing his car and being taken to hospital with a neck injury, according to police.

Chilean state television showed pictures of Vidal’s badly damaged red Ferrari and said the Juventus midfielder had crashed 30km south of Santiago at about 10pm on Tuesday after spending the team’s afternoon off at a casino.

It later showed Vidal, who has three goals in the tournament after scoring twice in Chile’s 3-3 draw with Mexico on Monday, leaving the hospital in a police patrol car.
