Keep brollies at the ready, despite 24C highs
PUT the buckets and spades on standby for the weekend.
A blast of warm and humid air from the southern Atlantic will bring some summery temperatures to our shores this weekend.
But we will have to wait and see if the sun will accompany these balmy temperatures of between 19C and 24C on Saturday.
It will be slightly fresher on Sunday, according to Met Éireann forecaster John Eagleton.
“There could be some bright spells,” he added.
As for beach weather, don’t bank on it, but don’t rule it out either, especially in the south-east and eastern regions, he said.
“It’s not fantastic, but it’s not bad either,” he said.
But there will also be some misty drizzle along the west coast and into Ulster, he said.
Elsewhere it should remain dry on Saturday but rain will push in overnight from the west, replacing the balmy, humid air.
Sunday should be a pleasant if slightly cooler summer’s day with highs of between 16C and 20C on Sunday and some sunny spells.
“It could be bright and fresh,” Mr Eagleton told the Irish Independent.
Next week will remain mixed, with rain and sporadic showers at times but also some sunny spells.
Temperatures will dip slightly, with daytime highs of between 16C and 17C on Monday but cooling down as rain moves in later in the day.
Tuesday and Wednesday will continue to be cool and showery but there will also be some dry and sunny spells scattered across the country.
Conditions should brighten up towards the end of the week.
It seems it’s too early to write off the summer just yet.
