DAWSON SETS SIGHTS ON SPANISH CONQUEST
ROBIN DAWSON will be looking to continue his excellent start to 2017 when he tees it up at the Spanish Amateur Championship in El Saler today.
The Waterford man goes into the event on the back of a pair of secondplace finishes at the Cape Province Open and the South African Amateur Open stroke-play event last month.
Stuart Grehan (Tullamore/MU), Irish Amateur Open champion Colm Campbell (Warrenpoint), John-Ross Galbraith (Whitehead), Colin Fairweather (Knock) and Kevin Le Blanc (The Island/ MU) are also in the field.
Meanwhile, Curtis Cup star Maria Dunne (Skerries) leads the Irish charge in the ladies’ event, which is taking place simultaneously at Sherry Golf Jerez in Cadiz.
Dunne was the only Irish player to reach the match-play stages last year.
