Use correct phrasing and syntax
Students often use ‘fancy’ or complex words and phrases out of context. If you are not completely sure you are using a word in its correct context, you must use a simpler/different word. Using words out of context has a detrimental effect on your writing and will cost you marks in the exam. Using incorrect spellings of a word, or indeed words that do not exist at all is unacceptable, for example “would of” instead of the correct version “would’ve or would have”.
