Athlone make light of off-field issues
ATHLONE TOWN put their off-field issues briefly behind them with a victory over Cobh Ramblers who went into last night’s game as league leaders.
Christophe Rodrigues scored from the penalty spot just after half-time; referee Eoghan O’Shea asked for it to be retaken, and Rodrigues again converted.
Rodrigues doubled the lead 15 minutes later with a beautifully taken free-kick, following a foul by Cobh’s Chris McCarthy for which he was sent off.
Ramblers pulled one back through Matthew Whelan.
