Democrats failed ‘undocumented’
Having watched RTÉ’s ‘Undocumented’ on Monday, my heart went out to many of the individuals interviewed.
However, the show only touched on a very important point which is too often overlooked. In 1965, an immigration act was passed in the US. It was introduced by two Democrats, promoted by Ted Kennedy and signed by Lyndon Johnson, both also Democrats.
Despite this, the political tone of the programme was clearly anti-Trump/ Republican. Hopefully the Irish Government will seek to approach this problem from a broader view of US politics and refrain from antagonism. Joe Caulfield Mountbolus, Co Offaly
