Conlan set for Chicago bout

MEXICO’S Alfredo Chanez is being lined up to face Michael Conlan in Chicago on May 26 next in a top of the bill Top Rank promotion at the UIC Pavilion.

Chanez, who has won four of his eight fights, will be boxing for the first time since last October against the two-time Irish Olympian and has never fought outside of Mexico ahead of the six-rounder.

LA-based Conlan, who is signed with Top Rank, won on his pro debut against Tim Ibarra on St Patrick’s Day last at Madison Square Garden in New York, the Belfast super-bantam stopping the American in the third round.
