Two’s company

For those with a hankering after a home in the sunny southeast, new developments in Wexford and Gorey will give them much to think about

-

H OUSE hunters keen to put their roots down in the sunny southeast will want to check out two highly appealing new developments – both from the same builder – in Wexford and Gorey.

Ard Uisce in Wexford town is the continuation of a very successful scheme started in 2006 on a large airy site on Whiterock Hill. Well within the Ring Road, the aptly named homes overlook Wexford Harbour and boast views all the way to Rosslare where you can see the ferries come in and out.

When the development was first launched, 72 houses were sold. Then came the downturn, which put a hold on everything for a few years before building began again last year. At that time, some 22 new A-rated semi-detached houses were built and sold.

With the finishing touches now being put to the latest phase of 24 homes, just 11 remain available – four three-bed detached houses and seven four-bed detached houses. Prices are keen, with the three beds on offer for €220,000 and the four-beds for €240,000.

All come with fitted kitchen cabinets, fitted bathrooms and standard tiling packages, all of which can be upgraded or customised if bought early enough. The homes are fully insulated, and come with an added energy-saving feature in the form of solar panels.

Outside, each house has off-street parking and the back gardens are all surrounded by solid block-built walls. Although a large development, Ard Uisce is remarkably well spaced out, with plenty of green spaces and the aforementioned views to boot. When fully completed, the development will also have a park and children’s playground just across the road. Within walking distance of Wexford town centre, the local bus also passes the gate.

Just up the coast in the ever-popular seaside town of Gorey, meanwhile, the brand new Gleann an Ghairdín development is attracting considerable interest. Eight of the first 11 houses have been sold, with three families already moved in, and the next row of 14 will commence shortly.

The model being built here at the moment is the classic three-bedroom semi-detached house, perched on a spacious site just up from the northern end of the main street, which is barely 15 minutes’ walk away from Gleann an Ghairdín.

Prices start at €235,000 and all the homes have similar features to their counterparts in Wexford – not surprising, given that both schemes are the work of long-established Enniscorthy builder Dan Morrissey and his family firm, Wexford Low Energy Homes. The proud Wexford man says he is delighted to be back building again after the lean years, having previously built several well-known estates in Enniscorthy and Wexford.

An open day across both developments will take place tomorrow (10 June) at 10.30am in Wexford and 2pm in Gorey.

Give selling agent Kearney & Co a call on 053-9123015.
