Dedicated St Brigid’s are raising bar for minis game

-

THIS evening the U-12 players from St Brigid’s RFC will treasure the moment they run out in the RDS Arena playing one of two half-time exhibition matches.

They will be cheered on by more than 200 parents, family members, and fellow players from their club.

This is also thanks to the fantastic value offered by the ‘One Province’ ticket initiative from Leinster Rugby.

Over recent years the One Province scheme has enabled St Brigid’s RFC to add much value to members within their club community at the heart of South County Dublin, whilst introducing the young players to the professional game from the ground up at Leinster home fixtures.

Last year alone as a club they attended no less than seven matches with more than 620 One Province ticket holders, not to mention season tickets, and the really encouraging part of this is that they are only a mini rugby club.

Founded with only one team in 1976 within St Brigid’s BNS Foxrock, the first national school to be affiliated to the Leinster Branch, SBRFC today boasts more than 200 playing members between U-6 and U-12.

Operating within the Metro Division of Leinster Branch, SBRFC’s mission is built around fun and enjoyment – providing an inclusive, safe environment for boys and girls to learn the fundamentals of physical literacy and grass-roots rugby.

Each year the club grows; driven by a core team of more than 40 volunteer coaches, administrators, and officials giving up their time every weekend – not to mention the immense support given by parents from the touchlines.

Away from the field SBRFC also plays its part in the wider community, most recently dedicating its 40-year Celebration Day to raising more than €8,500 for the Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice.

From One Province to one not so ‘little’ club – St Brigid’s RFC is setting the bar high, can you kick it?
