Meanwhile, tributes have been paid to a student who passed away four days after suffering injuries in a fall at a house in Limerick

The 19-year-old Galway native, named locally as Sophie Coll, from Barna, had been studying at the University of Limerick when she fell in an off-campus property in Limerick.

Gardaí confirmed they were treating the tragedy as an accidental death.

Ms Coll was rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick Intensive Care Unit, but sadly lost her battle for life on Wednesday.

UL chaplain Fr John Campion said he was “supporting” Ms Coll’s family in trying to come to terms with the tragedy. “We are supporting the family at this time, as well as [Sophie’s] classmates, and housemates, as part of our pastoral care protocol,” Fr Campion said.
