Mullins to enjoy a profitable Tipperary

AN excellent mixed card at Limerick Junction, better known as ‘Tipperary’, will attract a nice crowd tomorrow.

Both a Group contest and a Graded one take place and in the main jumps race, the Like A Butterfly Novice Steeplechase, Willie Mullins looks to have the answer in the shape of top weight Rathvinden.

The Heron Island nine-year-old has been making up for lost time this summer, landing a bit of a gamble three runs back at Galway, and he jumped very well at Listowel last time.

The main event on the Flat, the Coolmore Stud Home Of Champions Concorde Stakes, looks a nice opening for Downforce. Willie McCreery enjoyed a winner at this venue midweek and the Fast Company gelding, also a Tipperary victor in his time, will enjoy the testing conditions.

PROGRESSING

Pádraig Beggy has ridden two winners this season, one of which happened to be in the Epsom Derby, but he can make it three aboard Madrid in the opening maiden. This one was heavily backed at Gowran last time and is clearly progressing.

Racing concludes with a classy bumper in which Brahma Bull, which was sent off a surprisingly big price at Listowel last time, can make it three from three for Mullins and son Patrick.

Mullins is also strongly represented at Gowran today and runs three in the €50,000 handicap hurdle. Ben Button has gone up quite markedly in the weights but he was so impressive at Listowel that he may be able to defy that under Ruby.

The Grade Two PWC Champion Chase sees three runners rated 158 and two others fight it out. Ruby picked Shaneshill over last year’s winner Ballycasey and the Galway Plate runner-up may reverse form with Henry de Bromhead’s Balko Des Flos.
