Dunnes Simply Better Roasted Nut & Seed Granola, 500g, €4.49, 9/10

This Lawless family product from Galway includes hazelnuts, almonds, pecans, subtle cinnamon and — a big plus for some — no raisins. 485 calories and a relatively low 12g of sugar per 100g.

Aldi Specially Selected Super Nutty Granola, 500g, €2.99, 8/10

This Aldi granola contains seven different types of nut, as well as sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and was popular with our sweetertoo­thed testers. Good value. 483 calories and 19g of sugar per 100g.

Lizi’s Organic Granola, 500g, €7.35, 8/10

With cashews, almonds, hazelnuts and pistachios, this organic granola is sweetened with agave, apple juice and treacle. Lovely. 481 calories and a modest 12.9g of sugar per 100g.

Lidl Simply Sumptuous Crunchy Oat Granola, Raisin & Almond, 1kg, €2.99, 6/10

Great value and tastes pretty good too, although it’s light on nuts. 418 calories and 18.4g of sugar per 100g.

Jordans Crunchy Oat Granola, Raisin & Almond, 750g, €3.99, 6/10

With not a lot of nuts, but plenty of raisins (7pc), this granola has good flavour and crunch, but contains palm oil.

412 calories and a whopping

24.4g of sugar per 100g.

Flahavan’s Original Granola, 450g, €4.49, 5/10

This is the one to pick if you like lots of fruit as it contains raisins, sultanas and cranberrie­s. Very sweet. 483 calories and 24g of sugar per 100g.

Kellogg’s Ancient Legends Granola, 400g, €3.35, 3/10

Despite the rye, chia seeds, sultanas and pumpkins seeds, our testers were underwhelm­ed by the flavour and the amount of palm oil. 427 calories and 20g of sugar per 100g.
