Brendan Brackan can make it three wins from three at Cork

AROUND a month ago, Warm The Voice beat DROMBEG DREAM in a decent nursery at Listowel, but the latter can get her head in front against a new bunch of rivals in the O’Flynn Group Supporting The Rickie Healy Appeal Nursery Handicap (3.55 Cork) this afternoon.

Trained by Augustine Leahy, Drombeg Dream was left with too much to do when the leaders went a good clip, and it was tactics that cost her in the end. She was staying on well however and jockey Shane Foley will know the drill this time around, priced in the region of 9/4.

Jim Bolger’s filly Focus On Heaven will prove popular in the betting for the following fillies’ handicap over an extended mile (4.30) but preference is for Jessica Harrington’s RICKRACK, which was chalked up yesterday at 11/4.

The three-year-old traded at 8/11 in a Tipperary maiden recently before going down to Aidan O’Brien’s Longing, but it was good to see Colm O’Donoghue’s mount back near her best having put in a belowpar effort previously in a similar race at Killarney.

BRENDAN BRACKAN for the third year running. I was surprised to see him as high as 4/1 yesterday, but perhaps punters are put off by his latest Group and Listed races in which he failed to place. They were a good deal more competitive, however, and conditions look back in his favour.

He’ll probably head the market around 5/1 which is a little short for me, so Gordon Elliott’s DOCTOR PHOENIX gets a tentative each-way vote instead, priced around 12/1.

He’s somewhat untrustworthy and ran a little awkwardly when fourth of seven in a handicap chase at Wincanton back in February but he’d previously showed some promise. A new trainer and a drop in the ratings can freshen him up.

At Naas tomorrow, the Lyonstrained BALL GIRL catches the eye at 4/1 for the Foran Equine EBF Auction Race Final (3.0) which offers valuable prizemoney. She’s related to some decent horses and was placed in a Group Three in August.
