Grobler starts as Munster ‘A’ push for place in last eight

- Cian Tracey

A WIN in Irish Independent Park this evening (7.45) will see defending champions

Munster ‘A’ secure a place in the

British & Irish Cup quarter-finals.

Bottom side Ospreys Premiership Select stand in Peter Malone’s side’s way and given the quality that he has named to start, the hosts should have little trouble in making the knockout stages.

Ronan O’Mahony makes his first start since fracturing his fibula last year and he comes in at full-back in what is the only change from the team that beat Nottingham last week.

After another week in the spotlight, Gerbrandt Grobler (above) is again named in the engine room where he will partner Fineen Wycherley, who signed a development contract last week.

Grobler has overcome in his injury problems and will be pushing for inclusion with the senior team in the coming weeks.

SPELLS

Also back from their lengthy spells out are Dave O’Callaghan and Dan Goggin in what is a welcome boost for Munster. Both players are in the replacements.

The Ospreys are without a win in the tournament and up against the likes of O’Mahony, Calvin Nash, Bill Johnston and Conor Oliver, they are unlikely to end their losing streak in Cork.

Connacht Eagles are also in action this evening as they host Rotherham Titans at Corinthian Park (7.0). They have delayed naming their team until today.

A heavy defeat to Ealing Trailfinders last week damaged Connacht’s chances of advancing but given that Rotherham have nothing but pride play for, Mossy Lawler’s charges will be hoping to bounce back.
