Fish for compliments in D4

-

SENATOR David Norris claims to have once caught a pinkeen in Herbert Park pond in Dublin 4. Presumably this was when he was a child. Fishing in the pond is not recommended today unless you want to get yourself in hot water with the city council.

If you do have fish to fry, though, you’ll likely prefer to be able to do it in a self-contained kitchen.

Number 20 Raglan Hall, unusually for an apartment, has just such a kitchen, so you can cook all the fish you want without stinking the whole place out.

Raglan Hall is only a couple of hundred metres from Herbert Park — you just cross Clyde Road in front of the apartment building (there’s a pelican crossing), nip up Clyde Lane, and you can be pilfering pinkeens in three minutes flat.

It’s a block of 23 apartments built in 1979 but the interiors of the common areas have been updated since then, with a new lift and carpets and a relaxation area that includes a small library.

Number 20 is on the third floor and has a balcony facing due west, overlooking Raglan Lane. You reach the balcony from the open-plan living and dining room, where there’s a gasfitted fireplace.

A glass-panelled door leads from there into the kitchen, which is a reasonably tight space but has everything you need in it, not least an extractor fan — important as there’s no window.

The appliances are integrated and are included in the sale (along with the carpets and curtains).

On the opposite side of the entrance hall are the two bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, and the main shower room. The floor area is 732 sq ft in total.

It comes with a designated parking space and management fees are €2,475 a year. It’s for sale for €595,000 with Janet Carroll (01) 288 2020.
