Broderick stars as Carlow go marching on

CARLOW 2-12 WATERFORD 2-9 ALLIANZ FL DIVISION 4

-

WATERFORD boss Tom McGlinchey vented his frustration with referee Brendan Cawley following this spicy clash on Saturday in Carriganore.

He feels that his side are being harshly penalised this season, but fears his protests will fall on deaf ears.

“In some games I do think we’re getting a raw deal, but what difference does it make? Who’s going to listen? I don’t think anyone is going to listen so it doesn’t really matter what I say,” he said.

Turlough O’Brien’s promotion hopefuls led by 10 points entering the last 20 minutes, but the hosts whittled it down to two.

Gavin Crotty converted a penalty for the Déise before Paul Whyte forced home a second goal, but outstanding midfielder Brendan Murphy settled the game with a 77th-minute point.

The visitors registered 1-5 without reply in the opening half to enter the changing rooms 1-8 to 0-5 up.

Talisman Paul Broderick kicked six points, while patient build-up play led to a Sean Gannon goal on 28 minutes and Darragh O’Brien created a second for Daniel St Ledger.
