Kavanagh superb as Carlow cruise it

CARLOW 3-15 KILDARE 1-6

-

CARLOW had the points wrapped up by half-time yesterday when leading Kildare by 3-12 to 0-1 at Netwatch Cullen Park, but team boss Colm Bonnar will have been unimpressed by a second-half in which the Lilywhites outscored them by 1-5 to 0-3.

Marty Kavanagh did most to undermine Joe Quaid’s side in the opening half, setting up fullforward James Doyle for a fifth-minute goal before striking for his side’s other two green flags in the 29th and 32nd minutes. The St Mullins man hit 2-6 in a Man of the Match display.

Mark Delaney, with 0-5, and an injury-time goal from Eanna O’Neill provided respectability.
