Keaney makes Bray pay

-

MIDFIELDERS Jack Keaney and Eduardo Pinceli both claimed their first Sligo Rovers goals, as the Bit O’Red beat struggling Bray at the Showgrounds.

The opener arrived just ten minutes from half-time and just one minute after Bray had blown a great chance to go in front.

Daniel Kelly did well to cut into the area with only goalkeeper Mitchell Beeney to beat. But the on-loan Chelsea stopper made the save and Rovers countered quickly.

Adam Wixted picked out Greg Moorhouse at the far post, and he headed across goal for Keaney to direct the ball to the net.

Another Wixted cross led to the second just five minutes later, as Brazilian Eduardo Pinceli headed home from the back post.

Evan Moran made a great stop to deny Rovers substitute Lewis Morrison late on, while Sean Heaney cleared Moorhouse’s follow-up off the line.

With new Bray boss Martin Russell looking on, his side did show some fight in the closing stages, and they pulled a goal back when Cory Galvin fired home from just inside the area with eight minutes remaining.

But it was not enough to prevent Bray from falling to their 12th league defeat of the season.
