Irish fashion star Sinead truly in ‘Vogue’
‘VOGUE’ magazine has released photos of Irish woman Sinead Burke, who has made their top 25 most influential women list.
The fashion journalist was listed alongside Stella McCartney, Dua Lipa, JK Rowling and Meghan Markle.
Ms Burke, from Dublin, has been campaigning for inclusivity in the fashion industry for a number of years and her feature in ‘Vogue’ is the culmination of her international work in recent months. The ‘Vogue’ list, considering the “women shaping 2018”, hailed her “mission to educate designers on how to be fully inclusive in fashion and beyond”.
At 3ft 5in tall, Burke, who was born with achondroplasia, is acutely aware of the limits of design – and how to shift them.
As well as her fashion success, her TED talk Why Design Should Include Everyone racked up 1.2 million views online. Last month, she appeared on a double cover issue of the ‘Business of Fashion’, alongside Kim Kardashian.
The images for the July issue show Burke alongside Grace Ladoja, Priyanka Joshi, Karen Blackett and Dua Lipa.
She insists she is fighting for those who have not yet found their voice. She said: “From the earliest of ages, I had to develop a vocabulary to go up to strangers, to ask for help when I couldn’t access something.
“So I have no qualms about saying this is what the industry must do to change.”
