Perfect summer on the page by novelist Emily

- Ian Begley

BEST-SELLING author and journalist Emily Hourican says the creation of her latest novel came together perfectly – in contrast to her second novel.

Speaking at the launch of ‘The Blamed’, published by Hachette Ireland, the Belfast mother of three said the story stems from her idea of “the perfect summer”.

“I had the one perfect summer in my head, which many people have perhaps only once in their lives.

“Maybe you fall in love ... but, like everything, things have to come to an end and sometimes it can end really badly.

“This book was an absolute joy to write and I didn’t find it difficult at all.

“Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about my second novel which I found very hard to construct.”
