GAA PREVIEWS
TODAY ALL-IRELANDSHCQUARTER-FINAL*
Carlow v Limerick, Netwatch Dr Cullen Park, 7.0, J Keenan (Wicklow) Carlow are coming off the back of a morale-boosting Joe McDonagh Cup final win and can look forward hurling in the Leinster Championship next year but it’s a big ask for Colm Bonnar’s men to deliver against a Limerick team who have bristled with intent at times.
Odds: Carlow 16/1 Limerick 1/66 Draw 40/1 Verdict: Limerick
Westmeath v Wexford, TEG Cusack Park, 7.0, D Kirwan (Cork)
Like Carlow, Westmeath are back in action just a week after a national final though they are coming off the back of a defeat. They won’t need to be reminded of how difficult they made life for Tipperary last year and that will give them hope here but Wexford will be smarting after being caught on the line by Kilkenny. Odds: Westmeath 14/1 Wexford 1/40 Draw 33/1
Verdict: Wexford

Roscommon v Armagh, O’Moore Park, 3.0, J McQuillan (Cavan), RTÉ Armagh are on the verge of a place in the last eight for the second season in a row with Kieran McGeeney once again showing his knack for negotiating his way through the back door. Roscommon, however, will be the best team they have faced by some distance.
Odds: Rosc’ 8/13 Armagh 7/4 Draw 8/1 Verdict: Roscommon Cork v Tyrone, O’Moore Park, 5.0, M Deegan (Laois), Sky Sports Cork’s defeat in the Munster final was a chastening one for all involved and they need to regroup in time to take on a Tyrone side who have improved steadily since dodging a bullet in Navan against Meath. They will be boosted by the availability of Mark Bradley and can reach the ‘Super 8s’ here.
Odds: Cork 10/3 Tyrone 1/3 Draw 8/1
Verdict: Tyrone Fermanagh v Kildare, Páirc Tailteann, 7.0, C Lane (Cork), Sky Sports Fermanagh missed out on the chance of a breakthrough Ulster title but have the chance to make more progress here. It won’t be lost on them that Kildare struggled against Carlow’s style of play and if they can make life difficult they might fancy their chances. Kildare delivered on Cian O’Neill’s defiance last week but the pressure is on to back up that display.
Odds: Ferm’ 5/2 Kildare 4/9 Draw 8/1
Verdict: Kildare

Laois v Monaghan, Navan, 2.0, D O’Mahoney (Tipperary) The draw for the qualifiers has been kind to Monaghan who are handed another team that spent the spring in Division 4. Laois will provide a much stiffer test as for about 25 minutes in the Leinster final they gave Dublin headaches. Monaghan have been caught before against teams they have been expected to beat but surely that lesson has been learned now. Odds: Monaghan 1/6 Laois 5/1 Draw 14/1
Verdict: Monaghan
