Children told ‘think green’ in art contest creations

-

LITTLE Jules O’Rourke is the colourful face of this year’s All Ireland Credit Union Art Competition.

The seven-year-old schoolgirl officially launched the 35th annual art contest for children at Dublin’s Botanic Gardens yesterday.

The competition, sponsored by the Irish League of Credit Unions, encourages budding young artists to unleash their creativity and imagination using a variety of media.

This year’s theme is entitled ‘The Force of Nature’. Participants are being asked to ‘think green’ and depict their own take on nature and the environment and how both affect everyone’s lives.

The competition, which is the longestrunning art contest for children, received more than 30,000 entries last year with 11 category winners.

Registration is free.
