Children denied right to education
■ Listening to ‘Lunch Time Live’ on Newstalk yesterday, I heard the pleading of a mother with two autistic children, unable to find a school place for her sons.
She was joined by others who have no means of getting their families to school, which is constitutionally guaranteed.
This is the ‘Modern Ireland’ whose Government representatives give their time to criticising the nuns and religious people of past years who provided services (not without imperfections) in a country that failed to provide them.
In the next generation of politicians, they will find other scapegoats to blame for their shortcomings in providing essential services in the areas of health and education for children.
