Can Galway claim rare minor double?

-

WITH the All-Ireland minor hurling title already secured, Galway are out to complete a rare double when the footballers play Kerry in Sunday’s final.

The minor double hasn’t been won since 1974 when Cork captured both in an era when they enjoyed regular success in the grade. Not anymore, however, as they haven’t lifted the minor football title since 2000 or the hurling crown since 2001.

Galway, managed by Donal Ó Fatharta (above), last won the minor football title in 2007 while Kerry are bidding to complete five-timer, quite a change after going 20 years without a win.
