Mitchell wins Leinster Seniors
TRAMORE’S John Mitchell edged out Malone’s Barry Hobson after a countback to win the Leinster Seniors Open at Luttrellstown Golf Club.
They followed opening 74s with three-over 75s with Mitchell declared the winner by virtue of his better score over the final three holes.
The top two finished on five-over 149, two strokes ahead of City of Derry’s Ernie Heywood, who shot a best of the day, one-under 71 with Westport’s Liam Halpin a shot further back after a closing 77.
Naas’ Maurice Kelly took fifth place with the Veteran’s Prize going to Birr’s Billy Donlon.
