Drawing cash: Profits double at Irish Cartoon Saloon
PROFITS at three-time Oscarnominated Cartoon Saloon animation studios almost doubled to €537,805 last year. This week it was confirmed that Netflix has commissioned the Kilkenny-based studio to produce a new feature entitled ‘My Father’s Dragon’.
In September Apple bought a new animated film it is making called ‘Wolfwalkers’.
Cartoon Saloon Ltd received a boost last year with sales of €3.4m to a connected firm, Blue CAT Productions Ltd that relates to its deal with Amazon studios for the production of the ‘Pete the Cat’ series.
The Amazon work contributed to profits at Cartoon Saloon Ltd increasing by 97pc to €537,805.
Numbers employed by the cartoon firm increased to over 80 during 2017.
