GENERAL TIPS

-

Read every question carefully

➤ It is important that you read the question carefully before answering it. Take a moment to underline the keywords in the question and identify what exactly is being asked.

➤ A common mistake is for students to not fully answer the question being asked and to include information that is not relevant.

Timing is key

➤ Time management in the exam is crucial. If you are stuck on a question, then move on and come back to it.

➤ Make sure that you stick to the allocated timing for each question. It is better to have attempted all questions that need to be completed than spending too long on one question and not having enough time to complete others.

Diagrams

➤ Make sure that you draw diagrams in pencil.

➤ Make sure they are labelled with any relevant information that needs to be included.

➤ Do not spend too long on them. While they are important, you need to stick to your timing.

➤ Diagrams don’t need to be coloured in but do so if you have spare time.

Read over the paper

➤ It is important that you read over the exam paper before you begin – start thinking about what questions you will select in each section.

➤ Read over your answers at the end of the exam. Double check that you have answered the required number of questions.
