Cancer research fund to top €30m

-

THE Irish Cancer Society is on track to invest €30m into battling the illness through research in the 10 years up to 2020, it has confirmed.

The charity yesterday launched its 2019 research plan and revealed that this decade has seen all donation records for vital research broken. Averil Power, Chief Executive of the Irish Cancer Society, said: “Thanks to the generosity of the public, the Irish Cancer Society has invested more money in life-saving research than ever before, finding better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer.”

The society’s annual Daffodil Day fundraiser takes place on Friday, March 22. Dr Emma Allott and Dr Aideen Ryan are pictured (left) with Oisín (3) and Emma Foley (5), from Booterstown, Co Dublin, at yesterday’s launch.
