Clinical Dolan ends Armagh unbeaten run
ROSCOMMON picked up their third win over a previously unbeaten Armagh side at the Athletic Grounds.
A free-taking masterclass from Cathal Dolan in the second half helped the Connacht side take control of proceedings with 10 unanswered scores either side of the half-time whistle.
The hosts played with the wind in the first half and surged into a 0-5 to 0-0 lead – Danny Magee with a clever opener before Ruairí Fullerton landed four frees.
It wasn’t until the 14th minute that Roscommon opened their account with a Shane Curley free, quickly followed by an exceptional score from wing-back Hugh Rooney.
Magee and Fullerton added to their tallies, but Roscommon would level going in at the break, 0-7 apiece.
Roscommon set about their business early in the second period with five scores in quick succession, Dolan with his first of six frees and a brace from centre-back Eamon Flanagan.
Against the run of play, Armagh levelled after a magnificent Magee solo effort found the net. However, Dolan’s accuracy eased the visitors over the line.
