AF­TER 50 years, one of the world’s small­est self-de­clared states, the Prin­ci­pal­ity of Hutt River, which lies 500km north of Perth, will re­join Aus­tralia. Wheat farmer Leonard

Casley de­clared the 75sq km prov­ince in­de­pen­dent in 1970. But the state’s govern­ment has de­cided to dis­solve it af­ter a large tax bill, a drop in tourist num­bers and the death of Mr Casley.
