Great artists can help light up even the darkest of days
THE encouraging words of Professor Brendan Kelly, Professor of Psychiatry at TCD, (‘Mind your mental health during this most psychologically difficult phase of pandemic’, Irish Independent, August 25) are to be welcomed.
I share his view on the importance of our creative artists, particularly at this time. The words of some artists no longer with us continue to inspire us.
The words of Luka Bloom – who is, of course, very much with us – in his album
Bittersweet Crimson is a real tonic in these challenging times.
The song The Beauty of Everyday Things, if listened to at any time of the day, is wonderful.
However, if listened to in the morning, it is quite magical and sets one up for the day.
Thank you, Luka. Alice Leahy
