All Ireland dream alive for hosts Donegal

DONEGAL will face the Leinster champions in the All Ireland semi-finals of the AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield on home turf at Murvagh on October 17.

The hosts of this year’s

All Ireland finals overcame Rockmount 4-1 in the Ulster final at Concra Wood on Saturday thanks to wins for Bill Madden and Sean Carlin, Damian Mulhern and Daniel McMenamin and Oliver Plunkett and Christophe­r Hegarty.

The Leinster final is scheduled for October 11 with Baltinglas­s set to take on Wexford in the decider.

Baltinglas­s beat Corrstown 3-2 in their semi-final with Wexford 3-2 winners over Elm Park.

The other All Ireland semifinal will see Munster minnows Berehaven face Connacht champions Ballinaslo­e.

In the AIG Pierce Purcell Shield, Dunmurry clinched a 3-2 win over Moyola Park and now go on to face the Leinster champions in the All Ireland semi-final at Murvagh on October 29 with the winners to take on Gort or Spanish Point.

The Leinster semi-finals will see Malahide, 4-1 winners over Co Meath, face Cill Dara, who beat Corrstown 3-2. In the other half of the Leinster draw, Baltinglas­s beat Gowran Park 4-1 to set up a semi-final showdown with Elm Park, who were 3-2 winners over Stackstown.

In the AIG Junior Cup, Corrstown will meet Baltinglas­s in the Leinster semi-final as Kilkenny take on Waterford.

The Leinster champions will face Balmoral in the All Ireland semi-finals on October 29 with Munster kingpins Castletroy up against Connacht champions Ballinaslo­e in the other.

Balmoral had a 3.5-1.5 win over Cairndhu in the Ulster final at Donegal Golf Club on Sunday.
