UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE IRELAND v WALES
MATCH FACTS
■ This game will be the 18th senior international between the Republic of Ireland and Wales with the history dating back to 1960, but the third Nations League encounter after a double header win for our Celtic neighbours in Martin O'Neill's home stretch in 2018. Prior to that, they had never enjoyed a competitive success over Ireland. The all-time record now stands at seven Welsh wins, six for Ireland and four draws.
■ Wales qualified for Euro 2020 after emerging from a group which included Ireland's conquerors Slovakia. Their group went to the wire with a last day win over Hungary courtesy of an Aaron Ramsey brace enough for the Welsh to squeeze through one point clear of the Slovaks and two ahead of Hungary. Croatia had topped their pool.
■ There are only two players over the age of 30 in Giggs' squad - goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and defender Chris Gunter. Gareth Bale and Hal Robson Kanu had to pull out to reduce their age profile. The away side have 16 players aged 23 or under in their travelling panel, a reflection of their impressive production line. Ireland's squad is at an early stage of a rebuild to add a youthful flavour.
