Silke returns to Galway squad but O’Connor out for Kerry

- COLM KEYS

Liam Silke is back in the Galway football squad for the first time since 2022 as they entertain Dublin in Salthill today in NFL Division 1.

Silke, a 2022 All-Star, has been missing for the league through injury. His return is welcome in the Galway camp as injuries clear up.

Kerry make two changes for their trip to Roscommon with Diarmuid O’Connor and Conor Geaney dropping out of the squad, presumably through injury. Cillian Burke is also absent again, having missed the Tyrone game, as Barry Dan O’Sullivan and Darragh Roche step up.

Meanwhile, Ballinrobe’s Aaron McDonnell will make his league debut for Mayo as they make three changes for the visit of Derry tomorrow, a game that marks Aidan O’Shea’s 100th league appearance for his county.

Ironically, O’Shea, who has played 196 senior games in all competitions for Mayo, made his debut in a 2009 league game against Derry.

Cavan recall Cian Reilly for Conor Rehill and Ryan O’Neill for Ryan Brady, two changes ahead of their key Division2clashwithArmagh.Thecounty is mourning the death of 2020 Ballinagh intermediate winning-captain Thomas Moore after an illness.

Cathal Mannion will start for Galway against Limerick, one of three changes Henry Shefflin makes as Limerick head to Salthill for a key Division 1 hurling league game.

Galway had two players red-carded against Dublin and while Conor Whelan accepted his one-match suspension, Dáithí Burke failed to overturn his at a hearing during the week.

Ronan Glennon comes in to defence with Evan Noland also back to displace Jason Flynn.

Dessie Hutchinson starts for already-relegated Waterford against Kilkenny as defender PJ Fanning loses out in a reshuffle from the team that lost to Wexford.
