HE’S REALLY COLIN THE SHOTS

- BY RYAN MCELLIGOTT

JOCKEY Colin Keane was the star of the show at Limerick yesterday as he reeled off his second treble in 24 hours.

Fresh from his heroics at Dundalk on Friday, Keane made a blistering start to this fixture.

In the opener he teamed up with Johnny Murtagh’s True Valour, whose form last season included a second to the high class Lancaster Bomber.

True Valour took advantage of a good opportunity in the seven furlong colts maiden to see off the well backed newcomer Yulong Xionghu. The Tetrarch Stakes at Naas next Monday could be next for the winner.

Keane (right) then struck on the Ger Lyons-trained Mollie The Moo in the fillies maiden.

This daughter of Requinto had to settle for seventh on her debut at Cork earlier in the month when she was sent off a well backed favourite.

On this occasion Mollie The Moo did much better on good ground and she came through from midfield to strike the front late on.

The Keane treble was completed by the Lyons-trained Song Of Namibia in the featured 11 furlong handicap.

The lightly raced six-year-old collared the top weight Sister Blandina inside the last furlong for a clear cut success.

Elsewhere, Shane Foley and Michael Halford notched up a double which concluded with Shannon Soul in the mile handicap. The slow starter came from way off the pace to land in front on the line.

Earlier, Halford’s Surrounding followed up a debut second at Dundalk with victory in the older horses maiden.
