SUNNY SIDE UP FOR SAM

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

SAM ALLARDYCE reckons one more day in the sun ought to see Crystal Palace to safety.

The Eagles boss, whose side face Liverpool at Anfield today before home games against Tottenham on Wednesday and Burnley on Saturday, is confident that three more points will be enough to guarantee they beat the drop.

And he believes one of the main reasons for his side’s strong position was a teambonding trip to North Africa in early March.

“My biggest contribution off the pitch was taking the team to Morocco,” said Allardyce. “To get them out on the beach, out on the training ground when it was 26 degrees, their vitamin D levels rose quite dramatically.

“We gave them an opportunity to rest physically and mentally, and come back fresher to start fighting our way out TREATMENT ROOM Liverpool: Ings (knee), Lallana (thigh), Klavan (knee), Mane (knee), Henderson (ankle). Crystal Palace: Wickham (knee), Dann (knee), Sakho (unable to face parent club), Souare (thigh). SUSPENDED: None. ODDS TO WIN Liverpool: Draw: Crystal Palace: of trouble. All those things added together have started to have a contribution to us being, in form terms, at the top of the league now.”

Palace have risen out of the bottom three to 15th place, with 35 points.

Allardyce (above) said: “In the past 10 years or so, 38 points have been enough to stay up. We have an opportunity to try to get there and get beyond it.

“We want to take the pressure of ourselves by getting as many points as we can by the end of this week because at the end of this week there will only be three games left.”
