Punter calls it quits after €1m payout

A LUCKY punter who won almost €1million on a €22 stake at Punchestown said yesterday his betting days could be over.

The UK winner – who wants to stay anonymous – put an online accumulator bet on five horses on Friday’s card – and they were all first past the post.

The €978,000 payout from Coral is the biggest in the firm’s history.

The punter said: “I’ve been placing these accumulator bets pretty much every day for 20 years and winning is the realisation of a lifetime dream.

“I don’t know if I’ll carry on betting after this as I’ve achieved my goal.”
