Cool gowns for hot bridesmaids

- demelza.deburca@irishmirror.ie

IT’S your big day but that doesn’t mean your bridal party can’t make a style statement too. Bridesmaid dresses are often tricky, but some of our favourite brides of the past few years have given us a lesson in how to achieve the perfect look for their maids of honour.

The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton had the right idea dressing sister Pippa in an ivory Alexander Mcqueen gown to match her own dress for the Royal Wedding.

Granted Pippa almost stole the show but the timeless look means the dress looks just as good now as it did in 2011.

In 2014, supermodel Cara Delevingne pulled a Pippa while serving as maid of honour for sister Poppy donning a stunning 4. Pleated Grecian maxi dress by Oh My Love, €76 white Chanel gown with a flutter detail on the neckline and sleeves. Chanel also dressed model Poppy for her big day. Take a leaf out of their fashion book and ditch the flounces and frills – dress your bridesmaids in cool gowns they’ll want to wear again. We love Folkster’s Nina blush creation (€89) while Topshop also has some great options such as the pleated Grecian maxi dress by Oh My Love (€76). Last year Jerry Hall’s daughters Georgia May and Elizabeth Jagger made for very stylish bridesmaids in blue for their mother’s nuptials to Rupert Murdoch. Get the look for less at Asos’ Wedding collection which has some gorgeous bridesmaid choices such as the cami drape midi dress, a steal at just €74.32.
