Gers lucky with just 5!
LEIGH GRIFFITHS last night rubbed salt in Rangers’ wounds after Celtic romped to their biggest ever win at Ibrox, and claimed: “It could have been seven or eight.”
The Hoops’ 5-1 hammering embarrassed Pedro Caixinha’s plodders, eclipsing a 4-0 win all the way back in 1898.
Griffiths (below) beamed: “I think it’s a real statement, coming here and playing the way we did.
“For the last 10 minutes, we took our foot off the gas a little bit. It was five going on seven or eight, the amount of chances we created. We gave Rangers limited space and played to our maximum today.”
Asked if this was the most comfortable of the six meetings with their rivals this term, Griffiths said:
“I think the way our tactics set up, yes. Them playing with a diamond to start with gave us more room on the side, and you saw in the first half how many problems we caused.”
