Tony forced to abandon fridge trip
COMEDIAN Tony Hawks has been forced to quit his attempt to recreate his famous trip around Ireland with a fridge.
Tony had only just flown into Belfast to start the trek – 20 years after first undertaking his adventure.
Back then he spent a month hitch-hiking around Ireland with the fridge for a £100 bet and later wrote a bestselling book about his exploits.
The Englishman had planned to seek out many of the people that helped him during his first trip but he has been forced to abandon his efforts “due to a family illness”.
He said: “Sadly had to leave Ireland and head home due to a family illness. The fridge remains. Not sure when we‘ll be reunited.”
