Babs biopic is a right carry on

-

She has been hailed as Britain’s most iconic actress – though I can think of a few who would contest that crown. Either way the life and times of Barbara Windsor told in a BBC biopic film promises to be anything but dull. The story chronicles 50 years of the Carry On star’s life and career from 1943 wartime England to 1993, just before she joined the cast of Eastenders as Peggy Mitchell. The show starts off with a young Barbara, played by 12-year-old Honor Kneafsey, as a lonely evacuee during the Second World War. Jaime Winstone, pictured right, takes up the role for the Carry On era and Babs in later life is played by Samantha Spiro. Windsor is said to be more than happy with the show after she reportedly took actress Jaime Winstone under her wing to prepare for the role.
